A local Awami League leader was shot dead by unidentified criminals in Dhaka’s Badda area this afternoon.
Deceased Farhad Hossain, 50, a resident of Uttar Badda area, was the general secretary of Badda union (now under Dhaka City Corporation), police said.
Two assailants, riding a motorbike, shot Farhad while he was coming out of Baitus Salam-Jam-e- Mosque near Alir mor intersection after offering Juma prayers around 1:45pm, Officer-In-Charge (Operations) of Badda Police Station Abul Kalam Azad told The Daily Star.
Farhad sustained bullet wounds in his head and chest as the criminals shot him from close range leaving him critically injured and sped away, the police official said.
He was rushed to United Hospital in Gulshan where doctors declared him dead, said the OC.
