Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia secured bails in five cases including a sedition case after appearing before three separate courts on Tuesday.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges’ Court, Special Judges Court-3 and Metropolitan Magistrates Court granted bails to BNP chairperson in a case for arson attack on a bus at Jatrabari in 2015, Gatco graft case, sedition case for questioning numbers of Liberation war martyrs and two other violence cases.
After getting bails in Jatrabari arson and Gatco graft cases, Khaleda appeared before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrates Court relating to a sedition case and two violence cases filed against her with Jatrabari and Gulshan police stations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges’ Court judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah granted bail in arson case while Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Special Judges Court-3 granted bail in Gatco grafts case.
Metropolitan Magistrates Jakir Hossain Tipu, Maruf Hossain and Kaysarul Alam granted bails to Khaleda in sedition and two other violence cases.
Earlier Khaleda reached at Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges’ Court premises at about 10:45am and surrender to the court.
Additional security forces were deployed around the court premises since morning over Khaleda’s surrender to the court.
Khaleda’s defence counsel Sanaullah Mia said that they moved petitions seeking Khaleda’s bail in the cases.
