Finance minister AMA Muhth on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of bringing any change in the new pay scale but said there might be some adjustments, reports news agency UNB.
“No change…there maybe only adjustments,” he told reporters responding to a query on the demand of the public university teachers and also some other government and semi-government employees regarding the new pay scale, announced by the government.
Muhith was briefing reporters about the outcomes of his China visit when he attended the launching ceremony of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), a development bank backed by China.
The finance minister said he is waiting for the outcomes of the teachers’ discussion with the education minister and the prime minister.
He, however, said there was a mistake regarding the grading of the central bank employees and also other non-administrative cadre services, but those have been corrected.
Muhith said Bangladesh has prepared a list of 7-8 large projects to seek support from AIIB and the fund requirement is about $7-8 billion. He said the interest rate of the AIIB will be below 2 percent.
