The parliamentary standing committee on railways ministry, decided to build overpasses on 1400 railway crossings across the country.
The recommendation was made at a meeting of the standing committee at the parliament secretariat on Thursday.
Committee president ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury told Prothom Alo that the railways ministry will make overpasses on 1400 railway crossings under the railway department among the 2500 crossings all over the country. The rest 1100 crossings are under the local government department.
The committee also said they would urge roads and highways, and local government divisions to make overpasses on the railway crossings under their divisions.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee recommended the ministry to cancel some land allocations for fuel pumps for violating conditions by not constructing CNG filling stations on the railway lands.
The Standing Committee also suggested removal of the different colours of trains and using quality paints while painting the trains.
The meeting was chaired by standing committee chairman, ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, also attended by railways minister Md Mazibul Hoque, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Ali Asgar, Yasin Ali, and Fatema Zohra.
