Detectives arrested former Gazipur-5 lawmaker Akhtaruzzaman from the capital’s Gulshan area on Wednesday night.
According to the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), a DB team conducted a raid on a house in Gulshan around 10:00pm and arrested the former MP, reports UNB.
DMP’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) Niaz Mehedi said Akhtaruzzaman was arrested on allegations of involvement in the activities of a banned organisation. He is also accused in multiple cases, including murder.
Legal proceedings against the arrested former lawmaker are underway, the sources added.
