Gold price hit a record high of Tk 102,876 a bhari (11.664 grams) on the local market on Thursday.
According to a Bangladesh Jewellers’ Samity press release, the price of 22-carat gold on Thursday was raised by Tk 2,333 a bhari to Tk 102,876 a bhari from Tk 100,544 a bhari in line with an increase in the price of the metal on the global market.
Bangladesh Jewellers’ Samity in a press release said that the prices of different carats of gold rose on the local market as the prices of the precious metal increased on the international market recently.
The price of 21-karat gold has been increased to Tk 98,211 a bhari from Tk 95,995 a bhari and that of 18-karat gold to Tk 84,214 a bhari from Tk 82,231 a bhari.
The price of traditional gold has been raised to Tk 70,159 a bhari from Tk 68,584 a bhari, the release said.
Earlier, the price of the precious metal hit record high of Tk 1,01,243 a bhari on the local market on August 24 which was reduced in three phases from September 27 to October 4.
However, the price of gold began increasing from the October 11 and hit record high on Thursday.
Before Thursday’s new record, jewellers had increased the prices of gold Tk 100,544 a bhari on the local market on September 15.
The new price will be effective on the local market from Friday.
