21 die, 1,602 test positive, 212 recover in 24 hours
Twenty-one people have died with coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.
This is the highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 during the span of a day in the country so far.
The death toll now stands at 349 and the death rate is at 1.46 percent, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, during a briefing.
One thousand six hundred and two — also the highest in a day — have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of infected has reached 23,870.
A total of 9,788 samples were tested since yesterday, Dr Nasima said.
A total of 231 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.
Among the deceased, 12 were from Dhaka, seven from Chattogram, one from Sylhet and another was from Rajshahi division.
Of them, 17 were male and four female, Dr Nasima said adding that, five of them were between 61-70, eight within 51-60, six between 41-50 and the other two between 31-40 years old.
