Morshed Khan leaves BNP
BNP vice chairman and former foreign minister Morshed Khan has tendered his resignation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
He sent his resignation letter to BNP’s Naya Paltan central office on Tuesday night.
Party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi received the resignation letter.
BNP sources said Morshed Khan has not specified the reasons of his resignation. He has merely mentioned that he resigned on his personal grounds.
Morshed Khan, however, declined to make comments over the matter.
According to BNP sources, Morshed Khan was annoyed at the nomination of Chattogram-8 (Boalkhali-Chandgaon) constituency and the formation of a committee there.
He failed to secure nomination in the 11th parliamentary election as convener of Chattogram South unit BNP Abu Sufian was given the party ticket. There are also allegations that the followers of Sufian were given priorities in constituting the local unit committee.
A gap was created between the BNP top leadership and Morshed Khan over these issues.
