2 Rtv journos granted bail

A day after placing them on a four-day remand, a Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to two journalists of a private television channel in a case filed with Kamrangirchar Police Station for inciting blockaders to explode crude bombs.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tareque Mainul Islam Bhuiyan passed the order when sub-inspector Rasul Samdani Azad, also investigation officer of the case, produced Rtv reporter Tamzid Ahmed and its cameraperson Proshanta Modok before his court.

The IO produced the duo before the court and prayed for sending them to jail, saying he already completed interrogating them.

On the other hand, several lawyers belonging to Dhaka Court Reporters Association filed a bail petition for the two journalists.

After hearing, the court granted bail for them.

Earlier on Sunday, the same court placed Tamzid Ahmed and Proshanta Modok on a four-day remand in the case.

Police arrested the two journalists from Kamrangirchar area on Sunday morning while they were covering ongoing blockade programme enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance.

Later, a case was filed against them.

According to police, the journalists instigated the opposition activists for blasting crude bombs and bringing out procession at Kuarghat in Kamrangirchar.
