Three others managed come back crossing the border, reports our correspondent in Sherpur.

Shital’s cousin Jugal Kishore Koch said Shital and Hemanta, also a close relative, went missing from Monday and Tuesday night they came to know that the duo was beaten dead at Sisingapara.

Later they informed the matter to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

  1. Here are two pictures; one before liberation and the other during AL’s present rule. During the Pakistani period we ( being inhabitants in the border area) used to see the BSF kept over a mile’s distance from the borderline while the EPR, mostly comprising non-Bengali Biharis, patrolling less than 30 yards from the borderline. Many of our near relatives’ cattle used to graze on the fields within Indian territory but none was ever heard missing or taken away by Indian inhabitants. But the present picture is exactly the opposite. The BSF are at liberty to enter into Bangladesh territory and take away whatever they can grab and the BGB remain just onlookers. What a precious independence we are enjoying under the present regime! The picture was never so dismal as it’s now. Even we can remember the incident at Padua. But the result has been that the BDR has become non-existent during the present regime.
