HC stays govt’s mark deduction in medical admission

The High Court on Tuesday stayed an order on the government’s decision to deduct five marks for second time medical admission seekers.

The HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain passed the order.

Besides, the court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned why the government’s decision to deduct marks from second time admission seekers would not be declared as ‘illegal’ and ‘unlawful’.

Health Secretary, director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and four others have been asked to reply the rule within four weeks.

The HC on Monday set today to deliver the order on the government’s decision after hearing of the writ.

Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed the petition with the HC on August 27 against the government’s ‘discriminatory’ decision.
