Zia Orphanage graft: Trial court changed following Khaleda’s plea

The High Court transferred the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court and asked to complete the trial proceedings in 60 days from receiving the order on Wednesday.

The case was shifted by an HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim to Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court from Special Judge’s Court-3 following a revision petition filed by Khaleda seeking its order for transferring the case.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said that the case will be transferred by the Judge of Special Judge’s Court-3 Abu Ahmed Jomadar to Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court after receiving the HC order.

Khurshid Alam will inform it to the ACC and then the commission will take decision whether it will move an appeal before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court challenging the transfer order.

On March 5, the HC fixed Wednesday (today) to pass the order on the revision petition.

On February 8, the BNP chief filed the petition challenging the order of the Special Judge’s Court-3 of Dhaka which rejected her no confidence petition.
