Asking the opposition leader to catch the next election train, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday reiterated that there could be discussions over the next election if Khaleda Zia can part the company of Jamaat-Shibir and stop killing people.
“You (Khaleda) can’t get into this train…now you can wait for the next train. I would like to say if you can part the company of Jamaat-Shibir and stop killing people, then there could be discussions over the next election,” she said.
Hasina, also President of the ruling Awami League, was addressing at a mammoth public rally at Sadarpur Stadium in favour of party candidate Kazi Jafarullah as part of her first leg of election campaign.
The Awami League chief alleged that BNP is not joining the polls just for one reason — its ally Jamaat-e-Islami has been barred form contesting the parliamentary polls following a higher court verdict.
Holding the opposition responsible for burning people to death in a bid to foil the next election, the premier said the opposition leader has been crafting various plots to foil the election as she has missed the election train.
“I had invited her (Khaleda) to discussions and I also phoned her, but she issued a threat to me turning down my offer….she wants to foil the election instead of joining it,” Hasina added.
“I want to ask the opposition leader no one would be able to foil the election even if she wants to do so,” Hasina added.
The Prime Minister also urged her audience as well as each and every voter to cast their votes for ‘Boat’, the election symbol of Awami League, braving all obstacles, and reelect her party.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain and Former FBCCI president AK Azad also spoke at the rally held with AL leader Saleha Mosharraf in the chair.
Later, addressing at a roadside gathering at Moksudpur upazila in Gopalganj, Hasina said the opposition leader boycotted the 10th parliamentary polls as she knew that her party would not be able to win it.
Turning to the trial of war criminals, the AL President said the trial of war criminals is being held in the country, and their verdicts would also be executed one after another. “The opposition leader won’t be able to save the war criminals.”
Urging the local people to spontaneously vote for Boat in the January 5 election, the Prime Minister said, “Through casting your votes for Boat, you’ll show the world that we believe in election.”
Faruk khan spoke on the occasion.
