The genocide in Gaza is running into its seventh day. Failure of world leadership to stop this genocide and senseless destruction has simply given Israel the go-ahead with its aggression. Saving the people of Gaza and the Palestinian demand for an independent land is now a universal humanitarian demand. The killing of innocent, helpless children must stop immediately.
The United Nations’ investigations revealed that Israel had committed war crimes in 2012. The Israeli war machine is carrying out a planned genocide in Gaza. They have sent humanity and civilization to their graves in that devastated land. If Israel is responsible for this, then so is its ally, the United States.
This attack is supposedly in retaliation of three Israelis being abducted, but the motive is political. The two political forces of Palestine, Hamas and Fatah, in recent times have declared unity with one another. The aim of the Israeli attack is to prevent this unity of the Palestinians and also to thwart Hamas’ entrance into world politics. In 2005 when Hamas formed the government following a landslide victory in the election, Israel launched an assault in a similar matter. The present genocide is just a continuation of that. The US President has called for a ceasefire. Such a meaningless proposal is nothing but rhetoric and will not deter Israel from its carnage.
The captive, devastated, isolated existence of Palestine is a cruel reminder of the blatant discrimination of the international community. Until and unless the international community steps in and forces Israel to be civilised and to curb their belligerence, Palestine doesn’t stand a chance. The moral and political bankruptcy of the Arab states and the lack of unity among the people of the Muslim world, has given Israel the chance to continue in its onslaught. It is the United Nations that must take responsibility to step Israel’s carnage in Gaza.
Israel must realise it will not be safe and secure as a fort-like state. Their safety and security will only come by returning Palestinians their land and independence. Their dream of keeping the entire Arab world at their feet may well be the cause of their downfall.
