Tuesday’s SSC exams Friday

Controller of Examination for Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mohammad Wahiduzzaman informed journalists about the decision almost an hour after Jamaat announced that it will enforce the strike on Tuesday and turn it into a ‘nonstop strike’ from Wednesday if one of its leaders is sentenced to die for crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

SSC and equivalent examinations began nationwide from Sunday.

The strike has been called to coincide with the verdict on Jamaat’s Assistant General Secretary Abdul Quader Molla. The second war crimes tribunal is to pronounce a verdict on him on Tuesday.

The SSC examination scheduled for Tuesday (Feb 5) are – Bengali 2nd paper, ‘Shohoj Bangla’- 2nd paper, ‘Bangla Bhasha and Bangladesher Sangskriti’- 2nd paper.

Scheduled Dakhil examinations for madrasa board for the day are – ‘Quran Majeed and Tazbid’. Creative examination on Koran Majid and Tajbid (2) are supposed to take place under the technical board.

All examinations under the National University have also been rescheduled for Friday at 9am due to the strike, the university said in a press statement.

Jamaat called a general strike across the nation for Tuesday alleging that the government was creating a ‘mockery’ in the name of war crimes trial.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Sunday, the first day of the examinations, requested the political parties not to call for programmes during the examinations.
