Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Thursday said the government has taken steps to promote tourism in the country.
He was speaking at the opening of the 3-day 4th Bangladesh International Tourism Fair (BITF) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
FBCCI president Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed who attended the programme as special guest said his organization will give all out cooperation to the government in the development of the tourism sector.
He said it will help the country earn foreign currency and create jobs.
Rezaul Ekram, executive director of Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development (BFTD), HM Hakim Ali, president of Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development and Suman Talukder, senior vice president of Inbound Tour Operator Association, were present in the opening function.
BFTD and Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) in collaboration with Civil Aviation & Tourism Ministry, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Bangladesh Inbound Tour Operators Association and Bangladesh International Hotel Association are the organizers of the event.
India, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Myanmar are among the foreign participants.
Travel agents, tour operators, hotels and resorts, card sellers, hospitals, institutions, National Tourism Organisation (NTOs), airlines, financial institutions, online sellers and other tourism service providers are participating in the fair.
It will continue until Saturday.
