TIB finds AL-BNP organisational ‘weakness’ disastrous for country

AL-BNP

Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Dr Iftekharuzzaman on Sunday said the organisational weakness of two major political parties — Awami League and BNP—is gradually pushing the country towards disaster.

He made the remarks at a views-exchange meeting with members of TIB’s volunteer groups — Sanak (Sachetan Nagarik Committee) and YES (Youth Engagement and Support) — at Sanak office in the district.

The TIB executive director said though Awami League looks very powerful the way it rules the country, its organisational base is very vulnerable. “Its grassroots leaders and activists are angry and frustrated.”

Besides, a clique of sycophants who move on the corridor of power is making huge money through plundering and corruption, he alleged.

Iftekhar said the TIB has been closely working with the government on many issues. “But, some ministers make negative remarks against TIB in many cases, which are not expected.

Sanak Faridpur president Mujibur Rahman, Prof Altaf Hossain and Prof Shipra Ray were, among others, present.
