Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Sylhet Metropolitan City unit Jamaat ameer advocate Eahsan Mahbub Jubair early Sunday at a hotel in the capital’s Uttara.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid at the hotel Garden Residence in Uttara and arrested Jubair from a room of the hotel.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami of Sylhet city unit threatened to enforce a down-to-dusk hartal in the division on Wednesday if Jubair is not released within 24 hours.
UNB adds; RAB source said Jubayer, also a member of central committee of Jamaat-e-Islami, was arrested from his alleged involvement anti-government activities.
He was wanted in a number of cases filed with different police stations in Sylhet. He secured bail in most of the cases, said a Rab official.
