Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday blamed the opposition leader for recent political violence in the country and said ‘support cannot be gained by starting fires and hurting people’.
Hasina also raised questions on the ‘ultimatum’ given by the opposition after rejecting proposals for talks.
“Opposition leader thinks of grabbing power over dead bodies . Her husband also seized power by force,” she said.
Referring to the Aug 21, 2004 grenade attack on an Awami League rally, Hasina said : “Opposition leader thought she can stay in power by killing me.”
She was speaking at a meeting with Netrokona Awami League unit at Ganabhaban.
