Sudan eyes BD jute, jute goods, pharmaceuticals

Sudanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Hassan E El Talib on Sunday urged the government of Bangladesh to export jute, jute goods and pharmaceuticals items to his country.

 

Ambassador Dr Hassan E El Talib (non-resident) came up with the request when he met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban in the evening.

 

The Sudanese envoy urged the Prime Minister to encourage Bangladeshi investors to invest in his country in ship-breaking industry.

 

PM’s special assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil briefed reporters after the meeting.

 

Dr Hassan E El Talib congratulated the Prime Minister on forming the government for the second consecutive time and also the third time.

 

He also appreciated the Bangladeshi peacekeepers now working in Sudan under the UN peacekeeping mission.

 

Highly appreciating the advancement in women education and women empowerment in Bangladesh, the Sudanese envoy said Sudan adopted the model of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the same purpose in their country.

 

He was also effusive about Bangladesh for its achievement in attaining MDGs and said Bangladesh is the pioneer in the world.

 

Dr Talib requested the Prime Minister to open a mission in Sudan.

 

In reply, the Prime Minister said that Bangladesh is actively considering opening a mission there.

 

Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder and Military Secretary to the Prime Minister Major General Mian Mohammad Joynul Abedin were, among others, present at the meeting.
