President of Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League (BKSJL) Abdul Kader Siddiqui on Wednesday said the Prime Minister’s resignation will bring smile to the faces of the country’s majority people and pave the way for resolving the ongoing political crisis.
“I think the current political crisis won’t be resolved without the restoration of the non-party neutral administration. So, if the Prime Minister resigns it’ll bring smile to the faces of the country’s three quarters people,” he said.
The BKSJL president came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting with BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
Kader Siddiqui went to the BNP office during the hartal hours at noon to invite Fakhrul to a rally of his party to be arranged at Sakhipur in Tangail on November 15, marking the ‘vote rigging by then Awami League government’ on the day in 1999 in the constituency.
He said he also invited opposition leader Khaleda Zia on Tuesday to join the rally.
Replying to a question, Kader Siddiqui said he did not come to the BNP office neither to extend his support to the 18-party’s 60-hour hartal nor to request it to withdraw it.
Sought his comment about the opposition’s 60-hour hartal, the BKSJL chief said, “I think the opposition has left no option but to go for such programmes. The government must go. They should quit.”
He also said the government’s attitude has given him an impression that the current regime is the main reason behind the shutdown.
