Sangakkara, Thirimanne thrash England

Sri Lanka have won by 9 wickets with 16 balls remaining while chasing England’s 309 runs in the 22nd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Wellington.

The Lankans scored 312/1 in 47.2 overs.

Lahiru Thirimanne hit a marvellous ton off 117 balls.

Sangakkara has also been playing his characteristic classy knock. He hit a quick hundred off 70 balls and also crossed 13k runs.

Earlier, Joe Root’s ton helped England set a challenging target of 310-runs for Sri Lanka.

Lasith Malinga, Suranga Lakmal, Angelo Mathews, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Rangana Herath, and Thisara Perera took one wicket each.

England won the toss and decided to bat first.
