Runa Laila appointed as Dadasaheb Phalke Award jury

Runa Laila, one of the legendary singers of Bangadesh has been chosen to be on the jury board of Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the highest honour by the Indian Government in the field of cinema.

It is presented annually to one person at the National Film Awards ceremony, by a jury board selected by the Directorate of Film Festivals.

Internationally renowned singer Runa Laila has been appointed as a member of this prestigious jury.

A letter from the awarding body reached the esteemed singer asking her to be a part of the jury and saying that her “experience and achievement” in music will benefit the organization.

The award has been previously presented to the greats and prominent figures in the Indian film industry, like Satyajit Ray, Dilip Kumar, Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar, Bhupen Hazarika, Shoumitra Chatterjee, Yash Chopra, Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor and such. The next winner of the award will be presented on April 30th of this year.
