Purchase committee endorses 4 projects

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on Sunday approved four proposals, including procurement,  for services and work from Atomstroyexport of Russia under a third agreement for installing the first phase of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP).

 

“As per the third agreement, Atomstroyexport will construct different structural works in the RNPP site involving US$ 190 million,” Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Nurul Karim told reporters after the meeting at the secretariat. Finance Minister AMA Muhith presided over the meeting.

 

Bangladesh Atomic Commission and Atomstroyexport have already inked four deals for installing the country’s first nuclear power plant. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the plant on October 2 last year.

 

Under the third agreement, construction of a pioneer base for

RNPP, residential village for the contractor’s personnel (for 100 persons, with utility networks), construction and erection base for the first stage of construction, common complex facilities and other necessary works will be performed on the territory of the site.

 

Nurul Karim informed the CCGP earlier approved the proposals of two agreements of which the first was of US$ 45.90 million and the other US$ 265 million.

 

The CCGP also approved the procurement proposal for ‘Clear Water Transmission Mains including River Crossing’ under an ADB component of the Khulna Water Supply Project involving Tk 250.68 crore. China Geo Engineering Corporation will implement the work.

 

The CCGP also approved the variation proposal of consultant firm for the ‘Construction of Tongi-Bhairab Bazaar Double Line including signaling’ under Bangladesh Railway Improvement Umbrella Project involving Tk 12.17 crore.

 

Besides, another proposal for appointment of consultant for the design, supervision and monitoring of the Northern Bangladesh Integrated Development Project costing Tk 107.21 crore got the purchase committee nod.
