Several areas in Bangladesh’ northern and southern region have been left out with power as one of the transmission lines of the national grid tripped during repair of another one, which was damaged due to storms.
The Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) said that power transmission in Barisal, Khulna, Rajshahi, and Rangpur regions have been cut off halting production at the 27 plants in the regions to halt.
The national grid’s Ashuganj-Sirajganj line was damaged due to a storm late on Monday, he said. “The Ghorasal-Ishwardi line tripped around 11.30am during repair works.”
According to the Power Development Board, there are 27 plants with the capacity of producing 2,249 MW power in the Barisal, Khulna Rajshahi and Rangpur regions.
Other than these, another 500 MW power comes from India by a trans-border grid, which enters through Bangladesh’s Kushtia.
