Police devour Destiny’s asset

Police are conferred with the duty of taking care and maintenance of Multi Level Marketing (MLM) Company Destiny’s huge asset. But police are allegedly discharging their duty somewhat beyond their assigned responsibility.

Some amounts of Destiny’s incomes are being deposited in police bank account. Police are receiving rent of Destiny’s flats and income of three cinema halls. Police use 50 of their vehicles, a Prothom Aloinvestigation found.

Police claimed they are not consuming destiny’s incomes but just maintaining it. They, however, admitted that they use vehicles of Destiny.

According to a court order, police are acting as receivers or supervisor of Destiny asset.

Dhaka metropolitan police is in charge of supervising the property located in Dhaka city and district superintendents of police take care of the Destiny property located out of Dhaka city.

In replying to a question, former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumdar told Prothom Alo that investors have rights over destiny’s property. Police have been deployed for its maintenance. So police will be liable for its any misuse, he added.

Anti Corruption Commission confirms police are in charge of supervising Destiny’s property worth around Tk 631 cr.

DMP has formed a maintenance committee, ‘Convenor Committee for Controlling, Managing and Supervising the Attached Movable and Immovable Asset of Destiny Multipurpose Co-operative Society and Destiny 2000 Ltd’. DMP joint commissioner (crime and ops) Rezaul Karim is the head of the committee.

The income, at a guess, Tk 11 to 12 lakhs comes from Ananda cinema hall at Farmgate of Dhaka.
Tejgoan police Senior AC Mohammad Afrujul Haque admitted the allegation of using the destiny money.

“A lion share of the incomes is being spent for employees and rest are kept in banks,” he added.
