Once again Pakistan Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has been “hurt” over the execution of a war criminal in Bangladesh.
Nisar said as a Pakistani he was hurt over Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman’s execution, according to reports published in several dailies in Pakistan on Monday.
“What kind of justice is this?” the minister questioned. To this, he added: “What sort of ‘internal matter’ is it?”
Bangladesh hanged Kamaruzzaman on Saturday for committing crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh against Pakistan in 1971.
The Pakistani minister expressed “deep grief” over Quader Molla’s execution in 2013. Molla, also a Jamaat leader, was the first to be hanged for committing crimes against humanity in 1971.
Refering to Kamaruzzaman’s execution, Nisar asked: “How can someone be hanged for siding with the Constitution in 1970 after 45 years?”
The minister said despite the official stance of the Foreign Ministry and the government of Pakistan, whatever was going on in Bangladesh was shameful and unjust that bled every Pakistani’s heart.
He said flag-bearers of democracy and human rights should take notice of the events in Bangladesh.
