Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said the government has initially finalised three international firms through the international tender for the construction of the main infrastructure of the much-hyped Padma Bridge project.
“Three international firms have been selected primarily for the main work of Padma Multipurpose Bridge,’’ he said at a press a briefing at Setu Bhaban in the city.
Obaidul Quader said the technical committee has finalized the three organizations from among those which took part in the tender for the construction of the main bridge.
The Bridge Division, on March 5, sent a letter to the three primarily selected organisations asking for their financing proposal by April 3.
The Communications Minister said the work order will be issued after the evaluation of the financing proposals, and work of the main structure of the bridge will begin by June this year.
The government, in June last year, floated the international tender for the construction of the main infrastructure of the Padma Bridge.
