Country’s first female speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury paid tributes to the Liberation War martyrs by placing wreaths at the National Mausoleum at Savar on Wednesday.
She also paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait at Dhanmondi in the capital.
After placing wreath at the National Mausoleum she visited the injured survivors of Savar building collapse at Combined Military Hospital and wished their early recovery. 9th division GOC Maj Gen Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardi was also present at that time.
Dr Shirin Sharmin also visited the collapsed Rana Plaza at Savar and prayed for the salvation of the departed souls.
She was sworn in as the country’s first female Speaker on Tuesday evening.
