Nanak wants to see Khaleda in jail

Awami League joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Thursday said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia should be put behind the bars for breaking peace in the country.

“The position of the person who breaks peace should be in the red building of Nazim Uddin Road,” he told a press conference at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office.

The press conference was convened to give party reaction to BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s remarks she made at a public rally in Kishoreganj on Wednesday.

Addressing the rally, Khaleda called upon the foreign countries not to provide arms and ammunition for Bangladesh’s law enforcers for what she said their growing repressive acts.

Pointing at Khaleda Zia, the Awami League leader said, “Mind your own business …your words and actions have no coherence. Don’t think of causing further sufferings to people. If you do that the consequences wouldn’t be good. The law is equal for all.”

He went on saying, “We hope the government wouldn’t hesitate to take stern action to ensure peace and security of people and the advancement of the country.”

Awami League joint general secretary Dr Dipu Moni was, among others, present at the press conference.
