“This is an independent and sovereign state. People of this land will decide its future. You needn’t to be worried. Be careful while commenting on it,” Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury has said directing towards the new United States ambassador to Bangladesh Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat.
The minister has heavily criticised Bernicat’s comment in which she argued that the January 5 elections were not fair and “undeniable flawed.”
Matia Chowdhury was addressing a gathering while distributing vulnerable group feeding (VGF) rice and shari-lungi among the poor ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr at Nalitabari in Sherpur on Tuesday.
She added, “It’s fair that you want to help us, but don’t try to drive us. We receive cooperation, not alms. We return each and every cooperation we get. So, talk after careful consideration.”
Matia also said, “You’re (Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat) yet to step in Bangladesh. Are you day-dreaming sitting in US? George W Bush in your country went to power on court order. People from across the nations know about electoral frauds frequent in your country. And you’re daring to talk about our electoral processes!”
The newly appointed US ambassador, Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, on Friday told before a US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, “The parliamentary elections of January 5 were undeniably flawed, and Bangladesh’s main political parties urgently need to engage in constructive dialogue that leads to a more representative government.”

The foul mouthed Matia was no good all her life. She started her miscreant political life from the campus; destroying the campus life in DU. She was expelled for this. She has always been irresponsible all her life. Simply good for nothing spokesperson for another autocrat. January election not an election. The whole world knows that. It is about time AL leadership accepts this reality and gives an early election. If they keep dreaming about pulling too long with their legitimacy, the people will answer her with vigor.
