Placed on police remand for the second consecutive time after his arrest, Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday night.
A team of detective branch (BD) of police brought him to the hospital but did not assign any reason officially.
An on-duty doctor said the physicians were checking if Manna was suffering from any heart ailment.
His son Noloy Manna told Prothom Alo that the family came to know the news of his admission to the hospital. The family members were then going to the hospital, he said.
On 7 March, a Dhaka court placed Manna, now facing sedition charges, on a fresh 10-day remand in a sedition case.
On 23 February, media reports on leaked telephone conversations between Manna and BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka and also with an unknown person created much hue and cry on the political front.
Manna was picked up allegedly by a law enforcement agency early on 24 February, and was handed over to the Gulshan police early hours of 25 February.
The police filed a case under section 131 of penal code on charge of instigating the armed forces for rebellion.
On 25 February, Manna was put on the first spell of a 10-day remand after he was produced before the court.
