A man was killed after being crushed under a truck today as the vehicle fell into the Ghorautra river in Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj while boarding a ferry.
The deceased was identified as Apon Mia, 35, of Shahpur village of Bajitpur, said Bajitpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Shahidullah.
The incident took place at Patuli ferry ghat in Dighirpar union in the afternoon.
The OC said the driver lost control of the freight truck while boarding a ferry and fell into the river and Apon, who was on the ferry, died after being crushed by the truck.
Police reached the spot quickly upon receiving the information. Efforts are on to recover the truck.
An autopsy report is being prepared, added the OC.
Legal proceedings are underway.
