BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is misleading the people by claiming her party leaders and activists were being murdered in a bid to foment trouble, the Information Minister has alleged.
She is planning to create chaos with her lies when the government is trying to maintain peace and eradicate terrorism from the country, Hasanul Haq Inu said on Tuesday at a press briefing at the Secretariat on present political situation.
“Khaleda Zia has opted for lies and violence by leaving the path of normal politics. She is creating chaos and instigating tension by lying.”
At least 300 leaders and activists of the BNP and its allies were either killed or abducted in one month before and after the Jan 5 parliamentary election, the BNP Chairperson had claimed at a media briefing on Feb 4.
Presenting the statistics, she had said, “This kind of arbitrary murders and abductions cannot take place in a civil society.”
According to the information gathered by the BNP, 242 people were murdered and 60 others were abducted between Dec 26 and Jan 27, Khaleda had claimed.
Regarding her statements, the Information Minister on Tuesday said, “The BNP Chairperson in a planned way is trying to hard-sell her theory of party activists being murdered.”
He also mentioned the sabotage and violence allegedly carried out by activists of BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami in the name of their movement.
Inu said Khaleda Zia was planning to create tension again in the country by her fictitious claim of 152 party leaders and activists being killed.
“She is trying to save heinous terrorists by claiming them as political activists.”
“Khaleda Zia is deliberately not seeing the differences between political activists and terrorists, criminals, murderers and saboteurs.”
There was no other way for the administration but to take stern action against these criminals, Inu said.
“But if one round of bullet is shot, it will be held accountable. If any extra-judicial event, murder takes place, it will be investigated. Those responsible for such action will be tried.”
