BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia might visit India in the second week of March to join a programme, ‘Global Leadership Forum’, scheduled to be held in New Delhi.
Party sources informed that Khaleda will go to India to join the programme if she gets appointments to meet some Indian government officials and ruling BJP leaders.
Khaleda received the invitation letter on January 20. The letter was signed by co-chair of the reception committee of the forum Justice RC Lahoti, former chief justice of India, and vice-chair Prof Ruud Lubbers, former prime minister, Netherlands.
The Global Leadership Forum will be held under the banner of the World Culture Festival, a celebration of The Art of Living’s 35 years of service to humanity.
Renowned leaders and personalities from diverse backgrounds will come together to discuss and analyse leadership in a globalised, interdependent geopolitical and socio-economic context.
BNP International Affairs Secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon said their chairperson may go there as BNP places a lot of importance to strengthening ties with India.
