Khaleda joins Jamaat iftar

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia attended an iftar party hosted by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, one of the components of 20-party, at a city hotel on Thursday.

Jamaat nayeb-e-ameer Prof Mujubir Rahman received the BNP chairperson and other guests at the party.

Khaleda reached the iftar party two minutes behind the iftar schedule due to huge traffic congestions on the city streets caused by afternoon rain.

LDP Chairman Col (retd) Oli Ahmed, Islami Oikya Jote chairman Abdul Latif Nezami, Khelafat Majlish chief Prof M Ishaq, Kalyan Party chief Syed M Ibrahim, Jagpa chief Shafiul Alam Prodhan, NPP chief Fariduzzaman Farhad, Labour Party chief Mostafizur Rahman Iran, BNP leaders MK Anwar, Nazrul Islam Khan, Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, Asaduzzaman Ripon, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, poet Al Mahmud, DU teachers Sadrul Amin, Sukomal Barua, journalists Shawkat Mahmud and  Abdul Hye Sikder, among others, attended the iftar.

Addressing the programme prior to the iftar, Jamaat nayeb-e-ameer Prof Mujubir Rahman alleged their party senior leaders Mohammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Mollah have been killed in a planned way charging them with “false and conspiratorial” allegations through a ‘questionable and controversial’ trial process.

“The government is killing Jamaat leaders one after another in false and conspiratorial cases. Jamaat is a victim to the government’s political vengeance,” he said.

Mentioning that the government has been trying to mainly annihilate Jamaat, Mujubir Rahman said it will not be successful in its efforts. “I want to equivocally state that Jamaat can’t be destroyed.”

The Jamaat leader also urged all to get inspired with the spirit of Ramadan for waging a strong movement against the current repressive government.
