BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday extended financial aid to the authorities of Buddhist and Hindu temples ravaged by the September attacks in Chittagong.
Khaleda is on her way back to Dhaka after wrapping up her two-day visit to Chittagong where she for herself saw the Buddhist temples and localities in Ramu of Cox’s Bazar which were damaged in the recent violence.
She gave Tk 8 lakh for two Buddhist temples in Patiya, while Tk 4 lakh for two Hindu temples, reports our correspondent Rashidul Hasan who is travelling with the former prime minister.
The opposition leader also gave Tk 1,000 to each of 100 Buddhist monks who came to meet the opposition leader at Chittagong Circuit House.
She also assured the Buddhist leaders of extending support for treatment of those injured in the violence.
