Khaleda alone in office

The main opposition’s policymaker made the allegation on Thursday evening at United Hospital in Dhaka’s Gulshan where he is undergoing treatment.

He said, “Additional police forces have been deployed at the Opposition Leader’s home and political office at Gulshan after she announced the March for democracy programme.

“Not only leaders, even relatives are not allowed to enter her home,” the Standing Committee member added.

“Not just that, no leaders and activists are not allowed to enter her Gulshan office. The government has taken this evil strategy to isolate the Leader of the Opposition from party supporters.

“We deeply condemn this,” he continued.

Police on Wednesday night detained former BNP MP Sarder Sakhawat Hossain Bokul from in front of Khaleda’s residence and Standing Committee member RA Gani, MP Shammi AKter, party chief’s advisor Abdul Awal Mintoo’s son Tabith Awal and several other leaders and activists from in front of the Gulshan office.

Police, however, said they had escorted Gani to his home from there.

Nazrul Islam Khan on Thursday said, “The government has cordoned the BNP [chief’s] office to thwart the ‘march for democracy’ on Dec 29. The central office at Naya Paltan has been cordoned off like this over the past several months.”

BNP Vice-Chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury also alleged that no-one was allowed to enter the Opposition Leader’s residence and office.

“We could not meet her in the past two days. Its like the Opposition Leader is under siege.”

  1. BEGUM KHALEDA ZIA’S SPEECH STARTING WITH THE QURANIC HOLY VERSE “BISMILLAH HIR RAHMANIR RAHIM” (Starting by the name of Allah the most compassionate, the most merciful) on 25.12.2013 :
She most fervently and earnestly appealed to all the people, unite irrespective of creeds, colours, ethnicity and political persuasion with the mention of ALLAH RABBUL A’LAMIN to boycott the farcical election and to save democracy and country’s hard-own independence.
Her speech, tune, proper pronounciation of Bengali words from the beginning to the end was sweet like music, pleasing to every ear. No shouting, no hurling abuse to anyone, no punching the air with raised finger in anger to express hatred against anyone, not asking any Bangladeshi to leave the country who does not like her party’s politics. Not threatening anyone with arrest, jail, trial or hanging by abusing state institution as political tools to settle old score. There was no repetition of words, no mixing up of noun and adjectives, leaving no sentence incomplete. In short, it was marvellous speech. Exhibition of Bengali language and its beauty was in its best. The language used in her speech was most polite, rich containing heavy meaning, very comprehensive. The selection of vocabulary was very appropriate and absolutely political that has been befitting for a person, twice elected in office as prime minister of the country. No slung, obscene, vulgar, insulting words/language was used, no physical gesture was made as we hear and see these days from the Faridpuri camp. Her mood and appearance was solemn and dignified, serious because the words came from her heart. What wonder her audience up and down the country and even abroad was sell-bound!
The tune was sober, pleasant to hear (SRUTIMODUR). Very objective, economical and that’s why the speech has pleased every educated Bangladeshi who love good Bengali language. Without any exaggeration it could be said that Begum Khaleda’s both the speech and choice of words were wonderful. She did not use the adulterated language of MODERN DAY Anglo-Bungla language, being used in Bangladesh which has become a speciality of the poorly educated ruling party politicians, ministers, Hasina-sycophants and the rabble rousers.
To compare this speech to abusive FARIDPURI Hasina it would suffice to say- ” KAHA GONGA RAM TELI AAR KAHA…….It also proves that Khaleda was reared up in a good respectable Muslim family where she leant the manner, art of speech, politeness and modesty.
