A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed six people on a seven-day remand in connection with the killing of Jubo League leader Riazul Haque Khan Milky.
Meanwhile, Jubo League central committee expelled two party leaders including HM Jahid Siddique alias Tarek for his alleged involvement with the murder.
Milky, 43, organising secretary of the Dhaka city (south) unit Jubo League, was shot dead allegedly by a party man in the capital’s Gulshan area early Tuesday.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rejaul Karim on Wednesday granted remand prayer for the six accused after rejecting their bail petitions.
Earlier, Sabbir Rahman, a sub inspector of Gulashan Police Station who is also the investigation officer of the case, produced the accused before the court with a 10-day remand prayer for each.
The accused are Saidul Islam alias Nuruzzaman, 22, Tuhinur Rahman, 25, Sayed Mostafa Ali Rumi, 33, Md Rashed Mahmud, 25, Md Sujon Hawlader, 22, and Md Jahangir Mondol, 30.
Earlier in the day, Kazi Anisur Rahman, central office secretary of Jubo League, told The Daily Star on Wednesday that the central committee has expelled Tarek, joint secretary of the Dhaka City (south) unit, and Shakhawat Hossain Chanchal, organising secretary of Dhaka city (north) unit, from the party for their role in the murder.
Tarek was seen on the closed-circuit camera at the entrance of Shoppers World in Gulshan as shooting Riazul Haque Khan Milky dead.
