The BNP has described the results of the four city corporation elections as a ‘silent revolution’ by the people, in a break from the claim that the government is planning to rig the vote.
It also urged party leaders and activists to be ‘patient’ after the convincing victory of the candidates it supported in the civic polls only six months before the general elections.
”Chairperson Khaleda Zia has cautioned the leaders and activists not to be instigated by any provocation,” party’s Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told reporters at around 11:15pm Saturday at Naya Paltan headquarters.
“Our candidates” are leading in the partial election results but there is nothing to be excited about, he added.
He also directed them to be present at the district offices of the Election Commission before the results were announced unofficially.
