It’s now final round game: Fakhrul

Khoka urges party leaders to get ready to resist any attack on Oct 25 rally

As the current regime’s tenure nearing completion, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said now there will be the final round game as the quarter final and the semifinal are already over.

“Only seven days are left before the final round game. The preparation has to be completed by the time. There’s no option for us but to win the game,” he said.

The BNP leader came up with the remarks while addressing a meeting of BNP Dhaka City Unit at Bhashani Auditorium at Paltan in the city.

Fakhrul said if they fail to win the final game, people will hold them responsible for it.

The BNP spokesman said the existence of the ruling Awami League will be at stake after the dissolution of Parliament. “Awami League will be nowhere on the day when parliament will be dissolved. The countrymen are now ready to oust the current regime through a strong movement.”

Apprehending impediments to the Oct 25 BNP’s grand rally in Dhaka city, Fakhrul urged the party leaders and activists to make it successful facing all odds and obstacles.

Fakhrul said they repeatedly tried to solve the ongoing political stalemate in a peaceful manner through talks. “But, the government didn’t sit in dialogue as it doesn’t want the general election to be held under a non-party government.”

The government has changed the Constitution as the ruling alliance leaders know that people will not cast votes for them if the election is held under a neutral administration.

“The people of the country have taken a stand against Awami League because they don’t want AL misrule and exploitation anymore,” he claimed.

The BNP acting secretary general said many AL leaders and activists have already fled the country.

Addressing the meeting, Sadeque Hossain Khoka urged BNP leaders to get ready with machete-axe to resist attacks on the October 25 rally.  “We don’t want to create violence. But take all-out preparation to counter the attacks, if Awami League tries to do,” he added.

He said, “The preparation will have to be taken on two issues — making the rally a success and resisting any possible attacks. We won’t attack first. If Awami League comes with something to kill people, they’ll be resisted at any cost.”

Earlier in the morning at a meeting of Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee at Nayapaltan, Fakhrul called upon BNP leaders and activists to take all-out preparation for the movement against the government.
