State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said the Indian government has sought some information about Nur Hossain, the prime suspect in the Narayanganj seven-murder case.
Talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Wednesday, Asaduzzaman said the Indian government has a sent a note verbale to Bangladesh seeking some information about Nur Hossain.
Asked what information India sought about Nur Hossain, Asaduzzaman Khan told UNB, “I don’t know exactly about the information yet, but necessary steps will be taken following the note verbale.”
On Saturday night, Paschimbanga police arrested Nur Hossain from an apartment in Kolkata as Narayanganj police earlier sought Interpol’s help to arrest Nur Hossain.
Later, a Paschimbanga court placed Nur Hossain on an eight-day police remand on Sunday.
On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of Narayanganj. Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at district Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river the following day.
Nur Hossian, a Narayanganj city councillor, and some of his associates remained absconding since the abduction and killing of Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarker and five others.
