Different parts of the country including Dhaka and Chittagong may experience heavy rainfall with thunder showers in the next 24 hours, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (Met) told The Daily Star.
Meteorologists predicted the downpour as the monsoon is active over the southern region of the country, fairly active over the northern region and will remain moderate to strong elsewhere.
A moderate drizzle, or heavy-to-very heavy shower may be accompanied by thunder, and gusty and squally winds – it is likely to occur at most places across the country till 9:00am tomorrow, said Mahmudul Kabir, a professional assistant of Met.
A total of 36 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Dhaka since last night, he said, adding that the highest rainfall was recorded in Sandwip at 198mm.
The Met office has asked all three maritime ports of the country to hoist cautionary signal no. 3.
