HC: How is Chief Whip Feroz an MP?

The High Court has sought an explanation as to under what authority Chief Whip ASM Feroz will hold the parliament seat for Patuakhali-2 constituency.

The move was made in response to a writ petition lodged by Baufal municipality Mayor Ziaul Haque raising a loan default accusation against the lawmaker.

The bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Md Habibul Gani issed the rule asking the Awami League lawmaker for answers by four weeks.

ABM Siddiqur Rahman, the lawyer for the petitioner, confirmed on the status of the issued rule.

Chief whip in parliament ASM Feroz has already faced heat over comments that he would rather take money than a crest – an honourary recognition.

Instead of apologising to the media, Feroz instead rebutted by blaming the media for “distorting his statement.”
