  1. In fact it is very confusing in the light of the fact that Moulanna Saidee delivered lectures in so many ‘tafsir mahfils, across Bangladesh since 1973 when Bangabandhu himself was ruling the new-born Bangladesh. During the whole period of his regime Moulana Saidee was never heard of being barred from giving lectures in those ‘tafsir mahfils’ anywhere in the country. But after forty two years into independence it’s a natural question: was Bangabandhu’s govt ignorant of the accusations he’s been charged with lately? Now people can naturally ask: is he going to be hanged for ‘crime against humanity’ or for his great eloquence and influence on the public mind which the present govt considers a great threat to their purpose?

  2. Two wrongs don’t make right. If Bangabandhu failed to try him with the knowledge that he was a collaborator that contributed to deaths, and especially If Saidee’s hands are stained with blood of innocent people, he should hang! Justice delayed is justice denied!

  3. I would say, it’s better late than never. They have committed crimes against humanity and they MUST be punished. But the trial also has to be free and fair. Why they have not been tried earlier, that’s another story.
Brothers, this is all politics, simply dirty politics. For people like us it is very difficult to put two and two together and make any sense out of it.. Election is approaching and AL wants stay in power despite their utter failure and corruption and BNP wants to get back into power and all these at any cost. They don’t give a damn how much people suffer or how many are killed. They simply MUST have power.
By eliminating Jamaat from the equation, AL has a good possibility to retain power as BNP & associates will be weaker and that’s all..I will not be surprised if AL finally agrees to some form of “caretaker govt.”arrangement for the election as demanded by BNP. But this can happen only after they are assured of victory in the election.

  4. THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF ‘FREEDOM’ IN THIS WORLD…….1. FREEDOM OF SPEECH >>>>>YOU CAN SAY ANY THING ABOUT ANY THING,,, TRUE OR FALSE……..2. FREEDOM OF ACTION >>>>> YOU CAN KILL BURN DESTROY—ANYBODY.. ANYTHING IF PEOPLE DON’T AGREE WITH YOU. OR SAY SOMETHING, MISUSE FREEDOM OF SPEECH…….HATH THAKTEY MUKHEY KENO? HARTAL ZINDABAD….BANGALIR HATH ZINDABAD.

  5. Anjan Bhai:

You seem to be despaired. Your comment did not say much except showing your disgust. It would have been nice if you could make a definite point.
