The hajj flights that will carry Bangladeshi pilgrims to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj this year will begin on September 7.
Three flights of Bangladesh Biman, the national flag carrier, will carry about 1,502 Bangladeshi pilgrims on the first day.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Mohammad Faruk Khan revealed this while talking to reporters after a meeting on the final preparation for Hajj pilgrims with Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) president Mohammad Ibrahim Bahar at the secretariat on Tuesday.
The minister also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate this year’s Hajj programme and exchange greetings with the hajj pilgrims at Hajj Camp at Ashkona in the city at about 10 am on Friday.
Around 90,000 pilgrims will perform hajj from Bangladesh this year. Of them, 2,000 will go to Saudi Arabia under government management while the rest under private management.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines will carry 50 percent of the pilgrims while Saudi Airlines the remaining 50 percent in several phases.
The Saudi Airlines will start carrying the Bangladeshi pilgrims to Saudi Arabia on September 8. The return Hajj flight will begin on October 19 and continue till December 12.
Bangladesh Biman has taken a decision to provide holy water (Jamjam water) to each Hajj passenger when they will return to Bangladesh.
Besides, Bangladesh Biman also announced two packages of plane fare for the Hajj pilgrims. Under the packages, the pilgrims who will stay in Saudi Arabia for 18-20 days will have to pay US$ 2,500 for Business class ticket while US$ 2,000 for economy class ticket.
Bangladesh Biman also fixed plane fare at US$1475 for those Hajj pilgrims who will stay in Saudi Arabia for 42 days as usual, the minister added.

(I earnestly request you to please show the messages in front of your facebook/websites till the Hajj season) “As you know more than 2.5 million pilgrims gathered in Makkah for Hajj. Most of the pilgrims use different musical tones in mobile phone when receiving calls in Al-Haram Al-Sharif’s other pilgrims get disturbed in their prayers. This act is unethical and unacceptable for Muslim and against the respect of Al-Haram Al-Sharif’s”.
