BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday alleged the current regime is resorting to all sorts of repressive acts to frighten people in a bid to perpetuate its ‘illegal’ power.
“The government has left no repressive measurer unused to terrorise people to prolong its illegal power,” he said.
The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
Rizvi observed that the Prime Minister fears most the country’s people as her government has been formed illegally through a ‘voter-less’ election.
He said now people’s liberty depends on Sheikh Hasina’s will as her government has established its illegal control over all democratic institutions.
The BNP leader alleged that the government is brutally repressing the country’s people by the ruling party cadres and the law enforcers.
He warned that the government will not be able to suppress the country’s people through its repressive acts. “People are getting united and raising their voice against the government all over the country. The fall of this blood-thirsty regime is certain.”
BNP finance affairs secretary Abdus Salam, cultural affairs secretary Gazi Mazharul Anwar and Jubo Dal senior vice president Abdus Salam Azad were, among others, present.
