The BNP, lacking in “strength and courage” to start an anti-government street agitation, is plotting to seize power through the backdoor, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has claimed.
The BNP, according to him, is caught in a “whirlwind of frustration”.

“They are not ready for agitations; so, the government has nothing to worry about,” Quader told a rally in Bogra on Friday.
“[We] haven’t prepared to face them because the people don’t want agitations,” said the Awami League Presidium member.
He inaugurated six bridges at Bogra’s Sariakandi and addressed a rally on the bank of the Bangalee River.
Bogra is the hometown of BNP founder and former military ruler Gen Ziaur Rahman.
The BNP, which stayed away from the Jan 5 polls, has been pressing for an interim election under a non-party body, but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has rejected the demand.
Quader alleged, “The BNP does not have the strength and courage for agitations but conspiracies are on to seize power illegally.
“…Those who cannot demonstrate with the people, choose the backdoor [to usurp power].”
