The government will spare none of the masterminds of the Fatikchhari mayhem, Home Minister Dr Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir told Parliament on Tuesday.
“None of the masterminds will be spared… by bringing these masterminds under the existing laws, we’ll prove Bangladesh isn’t a haven for the criminals and offenders,” he said, responding to a supplementary question of Shahida Tarek Dipti (Wemen Seat).
MK Alamgir said the government will also prove how harsh the government could be against the criminals who carried out attacks on an Awami League procession in Fatikchhari upazila on April 11.
He said: “Police have started another operation in the upazila… eighty people have already been arrested.”
The Home Minister said the Fatikchhari incident is a shame for the country and assured the lawmakers that the government would take tough actions against the offenders.
Three people were killed and over 120 others, including cops, injured in the clash involving the activists of Awami League and Jamaat-Shibir-Hefajat and villagers at Kazirhat in Fatikchhari upazila on April 11.
Over 100 motorcycles, four mini trucks, three private cars, a vehicle of Fire Service and a microbus were also torched during the clash.
