Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim on Friday said they will continue their efforts to include the main opposition BNP in the newly-formed election-time cabinet till the final moment.
“Our efforts to include BNP in the recently-formed all-party government, led by Sheikh Hasina will continue, but they (BNP) will have to refrain from creating anarchy using Jamaat terrorists and Hefajat men,” he said.
Nasim, a former home minister, was addressing a rally organised by Bagbati union AL unit at Bagbati ground in Sirajganj Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
He said the general election is a demand of the time and the nation is eagerly waiting for it as there has been a huge enthusiasm among the voters to elect the candidates of their choice in a free, fair and neutral election.
Pointing at BNP he said, “No stupid decision of anyone can halt the election. The government will rein in those who will try to disrupt public security.”
Nasim also said the existence of BNP may be at stake if it does not leave Jamaat.
Chaired by local AL unit president Ali Hossain Mallik, the rally was addressed, among others, by district unit AL vice president Mostafa Kamal Khan, general secretary KM Hossain Ali and director of Bangladesh Medical Research Council Prof Dr Habib-e Millat Munna.
